lessons I learned my first year of blogging

In May 2016, on a whim I launched My Blissful Adventure – full of excitement, dreams and delusions! My plan was less than stellar (and not so much a plan at all). I was going to write, about everything. I was going to explore new places and try new things. It was all going to fall into place. I tell myself that lie so much, I actually believe it sometimes. I know that’s not how things worked, but my passion was going to drive me, and that was all I needed. (Note: that’s a new lie.)    I had day dreams of sitting at my deskRead More →

Rocking Motherhood Challenge - 10 ways I'm rocking being a mom

I was going to wait until Mother’s Day to post my Rocking Motherhood Challenge, but I also wanted to be able to tag all of the awesome mamas before Mother’s Day – so, I picked today, boy the younger is now the big 1-0. Excuse me while I go sob, I’ll be back with you in just a minute.   Okay, I’m back. So, to why we’re here. A few weeks ago I was tagged by the Annie over at Life As Annie P in the Rocking Motherhood Challenge. The idea, to encourage mothers to take a look at all the amazing things their doing andRead More →

How to have a fabulous staycation

So, I decided to take my birthweek off work because well, I deserve it! I had no big plans, kids are still in school and my love is still working so I was super excited to have a few days to myself. It’s a rarity, and here’s what I learned on the first two days of staycation: Idle hands get my antsy…. and 3 new cacti I’m not a sit around and do nothing gal. I get bored pretty easily.  It got me thinking, summer is coming and that means vacations for some people and staycations for others! After the first few days, 3 cactiRead More →

Upper Peninsula Wagner Falls in Munising, Michigan

Whoever said “don’t go chasing waterfalls” was all sorts of wrong. Rivers and lakes are swell, but waterfalls are where the real magic is at! Michigan’s upper peninsula is home to hundreds of waterfalls, small and large. Most notably Tahquamenon Falls, but don’t let that one keep you from visiting many of the others. Last Sunday I took a little day trip with pops, leaving around 4:30am and not returning until a little after 8pm. I had mapped out 4 waterfalls I wanted to reach that day, one ended up being put on a future list, however we found two more! Here are 5 fantasticRead More →

Welcome May, from myself and Coffee Beans and Bliss!

I can’t believe it’s already May! It seems like April just started a few days ago, Coffee Beans and Bliss was just starting and suddenly it’s over. I wanted to start a pillar post each month to review, revise and something to look forward to, so here’s my first go. Bear with me as I try to make it sensible. I assure you, this one probably won’t be.    April Review. Like I said, April flew by. I’ll admit April was pretty tough for me on a personal level, so I’m alright with it being over. On brighter notes, these things happened. Kids opening dayRead More →

baseball mom little league tips, ideas and survival

Happy Saturday! I hope your day is full of sunshine and wonder. This is my first truly scheduled post, where I’m really hoping it works out, because today, we’re at the fields. It’s opening day, and we are sooo excited!  I love that my kids are involved in athletic activities – especially the boys as they’ve had to learn to work together and be more than brothers, but teammates as well. There have been days of struggle. And for little miss, this is her first game. I almost missed it, since opening day was a week early this year and I had planned a little getRead More →

delicious roasted jalapeno popper recipe

I looove jalapeno poppers, however the past year or so I’ve stopped enjoying deep fried foods (minus a certain restaurants mushrooms, mmmm), which lead to needing to find something else.  I had seen a recipe a while ago about roasted jalapenos, but it was full of stuff I didn’t particularly care for outside of the idea of jalapeno poppers, so I decided to take the idea of roasting, and adapt to ingredients I actually like.   Ingredients: 10 jalapenos; halved & seeded 1 c. sharp cheddar, shredded 4 oz. feta cheese 1 pkg. (8 0z) cream cheese 1 garlic clove, minced 3 dill springs, minced 3Read More →

Happy Earth Day! Every year I use Earth Day as a chance to educate my children on the importance of loving our planet, being eco-friendly and the impact we have on it. Both negatively by being here  and how we can add a positive impact to our environment. Each year is a little different, as they grow I try to teach them more in depth and valuable information. Then there is our Earth Day celebration which includes: picking up trash, purging our home (donating or upcycling items we no longer use), recycling garbage, starting our compost pile, planting a tree and finalizing our “garden” plans.  Read More →
